You called him just a woodpecker.. and a flicker is a woodpecker of
sorts. That red
band is one of the key features.
As for the turtles -- yes three on a log.. I had not even seen the other
one...

I agree with Paul... looks like the softness comes because you were
autofocusing and the camera failed you there , zoning in on the branches
- but nice geometry and expression on the owl...
