Have to agree with Kris, snow is too dark. Through trial, error and histogram
I've found that +3 stops of exposure comp is needed for snow dominant shots.
Maybe even +4 stops.

If memory serves me, most photo guide books say 2.5 stops. I find that the K-5
requires only about plus 1.5 to plus 2 exposure comp when using matrix metering.

Paul, your memory serves you better than mine serves me. :-)
The K-5 is smarter than the K20D when it comes to extremes, I think. In
a K20D shot I posted here back in January [*] I added only +1.5 stops of
comp. After some "too dark" feedback, I PP'ed it up to +2.5 stops and it
looks 100% better. I even printed it -- reminds me: I still need to
frame it.
So 2-3 stops up (rather than 3-4). That should do it.
