the one to get is the smc K 28mm f3.5 version. The sharpness
is superb and the overall rendering is wonderful.

Which raises a point I've wondered about.

How does the M28 3.5 compare to the 2.8 version?  I recently got a 2.8
(first version) as part of a camera deal - I haven't actually used it in
anger yet)
