I shot a movie for a friend that I now need to edit and add sound.
Unfortunately my PC has limited abilities with Microsoft Movie Maker.
My son has an IMAC and the movie capabilities of IMovie look great,
exactly what I need. Unfortunately it won't work with AVI files that
my E-PL2 shoots.
Is there a program that will convert the files to the ones that IMovie
can use?
BTW, if you do any more than one or two videos a year, or would like
some much better functionality (iMovie is comparatively limited AFAIK)
then you can do a lot worse that Final Cut Express.
Cotty, you should give iMovie '11 a try sometime; it's gotten much more
powerful that you might imagine. Plus it appears to be the way that
Apple may be headed with their DV software. Have a look at this Final
Cut Pro X sneak peek ...

There's some controversy in the comments about whether Final Cut Pro X
is really intended to replace FC Express or what.
Actually, we are on the verge of getting Final Cut Express 4 as we have
run into limitations and annoyances with iMovie ourselves.
