Yes, I think that's been mentioned by those in charge, and it's certainly something I've thought of earlier. Definitely an opportunity. But to be honest I doubt it'll happen. The focus will be on fast and cheap. I'm not sure how it's going to play out though. Rebuilding the CBD is secondary to getting people back into habitable homes, so once the demolitions have finished and the remaining buildings have been made safe, the place is likely to look a bit empty for a while. By the time the CBD is rebuilt, the businesses that were there will have built up a new customer base in the suburbs and another move could be too disruptive. And a lot of people are going to think twice about working in a high-rise again. So new businesses will move in, and I wouldn't be surprised if they focus on building some more inner-city apartments. There is already concern that the recovery authority has been granted way too much power. It's going to be very interesting to say the least.
