Flash shouldn't make a difference.  It seems that you have a short in the
camera.  That is if the led's in the view finder turn off after you stop
pressing the shutter button.  Another possibility falls under stupid user
error.  Was something pressing on the shutter button, (and was it unlocked),
when you stored it? (I've done that with an MX winder, drains the cameras
batteries in a very short time).  There is also the meter activation button
on the left side of the camera something pressing on that would drain the
batteries also, and you can't turn that off.
