> I groan at the thought of adding another place to log into I do too, Ann. I suspect that one reason why we see so many people so absorbed in their telephones while they're walking down the street, is that they're spending all the time checking inboxes, and no time living their lives.
One of the secrets of managing your time in this hectic world, and of keeping some sort of grip on things, is to reduce the number of your inboxes to the minimum, and this is one of the reasons why I won't join things like Flickr and so on. I sometimes envy people like my mother, who had a letter-box and an analogue telephone (with a real dial), and that was how you communicated with her if you couldn't visit in person. In many ways it makes life much simpler and sometimes I feel nostalgic for it. On the other hand, I have just had superfast fibre-optic broadband installed, and signed up for a new mobile phone contract (50% cheaper than the last one - see http://www.billmonitor.com/) . But I sure as hell don't want to spend my life checking any more inboxes than I already have.
