Well, what's missing? The K-5 addressed practically all the criticisms of the K-7. and added the astounding low-light capabilities of the new sensors. I was glad to see the faster frame rate, return to Sony sensors (there seemed to be more complaints about colour fidelity in the K20/K-7 than there were with the older-generation cameras), the 14-bit RAW files, and the improvements in auto-focus. The reason I haven't got a K-5 in my camera bag is financial, not technical. There are still some places where the ergonomics could be tweaked slightly, and a flip-out screen (as on the Nikon D5100) would be nice. Beyond that, it's not clear that Pentax sell into the right market for things such as wireless connectivity, dual SD slots, &c. I doubt if a K-5 replacement is next on the Pentax front, anyway. As others have pointed out, a mirrorless camera system seems more likely to be the next product. That, in turn, mill have an effect on the low-end DSLR market, and on the point-and-shoot market, so I would think a new model in one or both of those will come next. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
