Well - it's not as if you're removing a pimple from the nose of a well known movie star or politician. The fawn isn't a recognizable individual, so I don't believe that this is a case of distorting reality. I wouldn't hesitate in getting rid of them, unless I was illustrating an article on parasites of wildlife - which isn't likely, and the original file would still be available if needed.
