I have NEVER left my SD card door open in the 4 years or so I've owned a DSLR. I can't even imagine how or why that would happen. What do you get up to, man!!?? :-D Why not paint it prison-suit orange? Just use a paint that won't flake off, cos that's the last thing you need, paint flakes going into the card slot.
