You know I tend to prefer minimal mucking around with images, opting for a 
what-I-saw-is-what-you-get approach. So it may surprise you that I prefer your 
filtered Yesteryear version here. Part of that is that the color balance in the 
traditional looks too cold to me. Overall I think that my preferred image would 
be the "traditional" with a touch more warmth. But the Yesteryear version is 
nice on its own. The combination of vignetting plus color changes does an 
effective job in rendering the look of old slides. So of the two presented, I 
would take the manipulated version.

<begin idle musing> Having said that, I am not sure how one could use such an 
image. It would be dishonest of course to try and pass something like this off 
as a rediscovered old photo, so it would need to be presented in a context 
where the manipulation is self-evident. It might work as one of a series of new 
images all of which had been Yesteryeared, but I think the trick would quickly 
become old. As a single print on a wall, maybe. As one in a set of varied 
images put together as a Portfolio, maybe. <end idle musing>
