I would try first to increase the contrast for the entire photo,
while suppressing the highlights and filling in the shadows as needed.
 
That should enhance the contrast of the front face without blowing off
the sky and the shadows.

Not that the adjustment brush is wrong, but I just think it's a bit too
crude in LR.
