It seems that the latest version of Avast will no longer support Win2K.
Of course the way the publisher decided to let current users know was to
cause all real time scanners to shut down after the latest program
update. I've just spent the last few hours trying to track down the
source of the error, (suspecting a really pernicious Malwear infection
to start). I finally was able to find another Virus scanner that will
offer at least some level of protection.
Well Avast was free, and I guess you get what you pay for. However with
that level of support I don't think I'll be paying for their paid
product any time soon.
Peter, do you realize that you may be among the select very few who
although using Windoze may progress from Win2K all the way to Win7
entirely bypassing WinXP? That's something worth checking with the book
of records...
On a more serious note, I think you might find Win7 quite a step up from
Win2K. I know I did.
Boris
I dunno. If you got to stop somewhere in between XP is a lot better
place than Vista.
To be honest, I've yet to see any compelling reason to abandon XP for Win7.
Looks to me like another of those change the interface just to break
whatever the customer already knows how to do and force whatever support
personnel to fork over thousands of dollars for new certifications.
Take out the old bugs and put in the new bugs. Rinse & repeat.
