I agree go with a K-R if your budget doesn't allow for a K5.

Good to see you back. If you're going digital,you might as well go to a K5,
if its in the budget. It's by far the best of the bunch. In lieu of that,
I'd go with a used Kx or a Kr.

Still remember how you steered me to some good birding sights in southern
Cal. You've been missed.
