I use the SCA3000 cord to take my Metz 40MZ-2 from the camera. The SCA3702 adapter remains on the camera, the SCA3000 cable connects the SCA3702 with the flash. All communication with the flash remains intact, and the SCA3000 also has the IR AF-assist beam on it. I see B&H has the SCA3000A and SCA3000C, they are not the one that I have, I wonder if this cord is still available new.
The other option is to buy another Metz flash, with the SCA3080 or SCA3082 adapter, and use that as the Wireless controlled slave. Your 40MZ-3i stays on top of your camera and controls the other flash.
