Has anyone else noticed this? You have a carefully set up shot.
Carefully focus on the main subject, and take a series of pictures. For
some reason, not explained, there appears to be no plane of clear focus.
I don't mean that focus is off, but /nothing/ is in focus.

never remember seeing this before I shot digital. When I've missed focus
I can usually tell where the plane of focus is, even if it's not where I
wanted it. If a lens itself is soft it's consistently soft. Camera
movement is usually apparent at the pixel level. This is just a general
lack of an area of sharp focus, like a soft focus lens, but the
bracketing images are exactly as expected. (I wish I had a sample but I
deleted it without thinking).

I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed this, and maybe has
an explanation.

Happened all the time with my Nikkor 50/1.2.
