click the spot and select "What's Here?" It gives you a set of Long/Lat
coordinates in the search bar. Just copy & paste into your email & have the
recipient copy & paste it back into the Google Maps search bar.

there's a link icon (looks like a chain) in the upper right that will give you a URL directly, even a short option; here's a random example:

<http://g.co/maps/cv9pp>

(i got to wave at the Google Streetview car the other day; we'll see if they use the image of me standing next to a big Public Works dump truck discussing the repair of the storm drain in front of my house ...)
