It is a crop and I do have other options I guess, but the main problem with the original is that there was a large highlight on the right where there was open sky that seemed to distract from the flower. It doesn't look "bad" per se, but I just felt that the image benefited from isolating the flower from its primary source of illumination.

Hi all,

I've been going through some of the shots I've taken over the past couple of 
months and stumbled upon some that I had set aside for another day and let them 
slip my mind.  I took this one way back on August 14, using my K-x with the K 
50/1.4.  It was just as the sun was going down.  I don't recall what my 
aperture setting was, but I'm guessing it was most likely right at f/2.  In any 
event, I was pretty pleased when I stumbled upon it and can't for the life of 
me figure out why I hadn't done anything with it before.
