It is a crop and I do have other options I guess, but the main problem
with the original is that there was a large highlight on the right where
there was open sky that seemed to distract from the flower. It doesn't
look "bad" per se, but I just felt that the image benefited from
isolating the flower from its primary source of illumination.

My gawd Walt thanks for cropping it! Uncropped hurts my eyes. Cropped is
perfect light combined with excellent composition on your part. I hope
you haven't buried other gems like this in your archive.
