I won't rule out confusion on my part... However, I have been doing
some reading, and it sounds like other manufacturers' image finish
modes are available in this panel...

In the link above, if you read through, it seems that not even the LR
folks are completely aware of whats going on with the pentax
camera-generated dng files...

Yes, I've never really messed with any of these settings either...
until yesterday.  I had a pile of photos from my son's cross country
meet that I was trying to finish up in a hurry (facebook, you know!),
and ran across it... I liked the effect that changing them all to the
"embedded" profile had... assumed it was accessing the "bright" mode
of the k-5 default setting ( I hadn't changed it)...  and then, it was
down the rabbit hole from there...
