If you build a preset, as Steve suggested, you can tell LR to apply that preset as it imports your images. Then they will need little or no tweaking. Take a look at this video by David Ziser.

I've been using his suggested settings with both the K-X and the K-5 and get very satisfactory results.

I usually shoot PEFs and let LR change them to DNGs on the *theory* that Adobe knows how to do the conversion better than Pentax. The operative word, of course, is *theory* but again I can't complain about the results.

Yeah, I'd ignore them unless you are planning to go over to the dark side
and shoot to jpeg again.

Well, *that's* not gonna happen! :)
I was just looking for a quick& dirty way to process a few raw
files.... I still think there oughtta be a way to apply those
profiles/finishing modes in LR...

they aren't profiles so much as "effects", and since they are defined by
Pentax and are processed by the camera itself, i doubt you'll see the exact
effects available in LR, although i'm sure you could build a Lightroom
preset to do something quite similar automatically

I could. I'm just a bit surprised that it isn't readily available.
Seems that other manufacturers are providing their proprietary jpeg
finish settings to adobe... why not Pentax?

Wait. Don't answer that...

Being old doesn't seem so old now that I'm old.
