These aren't good photos, but some of you may find them interesting. I shot them a couple of days before Christmas in 1976 at Austin Coil's apartment in Justice, Illinois. Austin was the brains behind the "Chi-Town Hustler" funny car, a top contender for many years in American drag racing competition. In later years, he took John Force to numerous world championships. In the foreground is Jim "Jungle Jim" Liberman (the furry thing without a head) and his girlfriend, sidekick, showpiece, Pam "Jungle Pam" Hardy. Austin Coil and his friend, Merle Mangles, are in the background.

I had a crappy little Ricoh flash mounted on the camera. We had just smoked something that Liberman brought to the party -- he said it was scrapings from a rocket exhaust. It was probably THC-laced grass, and I couldn't get out of my chair. That's all I remember. I hadn't seen these negs for many years, but Coil asked if I could make a print for a friend of his who was attached to Jungle. (Jungle drove his Corvette head on into a bus many years ago. Perhaps he feel asleep, perhaps not.) Anyway, I couldn't find the negs when Coil asked, but just the other day, while looking for something else, I stumbled across them.
