Yours is fine, Paul
I don't like this kind of stuff myself - visually - but I think it is
really important to make sure everyone at at a wedding is photographed
as being there. At my first wedding, a friend of my husband's did the
photos - they were good shots, but few of MY friends and relatives
mostly my grooms. It happened to a friend's daughter too - I was
supposed to do the photos, but the wedding was in Chile - so I didn't go
at all - they understood, however, there were people who had flown from
the States to the wedding who are not in any of the photos!
So it's a good thing to do .

I saw this in the paper last weekend. Fascinating, and of course only possible
to capture this well with large format. Good to see things like this are still
being done.
When I was shooting weddings, I was once asked to shoot a pic with everyone
attending in frame. Wasn't sure how I was going to do it, but to my good luck,
the building where the wedding was held had a courtyard with a fire escape
above, so I was able to climb up the fire escape and shoot the crowd with my
12-24. My results certainly didn't come close to the quality that this large
format shooter achieves, but the couple was pleased. It's here:

My grandparents had a handful of these mixed into their collection of
family snapshots. Never thought about the process of getting those
photos before, though. Interesting...
