Thanks for the comments, Bob, Brian, David, Steve, & Ann. The "rule" I was thinking of is to never put the horizon line in the middle. I agree with Brian that the little structure is what makes the whole thing "pop". I would even suggest that together with the two background peaks it forms a nice little triangle in the composition. Steve noticed the color break, which I enhanced in post.
