Interesting thought. But Pentaximaging, (Pentax USA), just with the
last month or so removed the K-x and K-7 from their web sites a current
products, and those products were out of production quite some time
ago. If Pentax is trying to get get rid of excess stock of K-r cameras
I would have expected a rumor or a replacement, so far NADA.
In my opinion it's attempt to get product back into Walmart stores next
to Nikon and Canon so the masses start thinking about Pentax as a player
again.

According to rumours* the K-r has been discontinued so this may be run-out

get rid of stocks of the old model before introducing a new one that is
probably the safest way.
*well, okay, the rumours were on the PentaxForum, but not all of them wear

Pentax announced today on fb:

Interesting. At first glance, I thought maybe a promising step
towards getting Pentax stock into stores... but then I realized
"walmart.com"... Maybe not such a big deal after all. But, if they
have the Hello Kitty edition...

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
