Their civilization didn't last, but there are plenty of the Mayan's
descendants living in the boarder areas between Guatemala and Mexico.

I'm more inclined to believe the Mayan prophecy for the end of the
World in 2012 than I am to believe the above, but I thought I should
pass it along for your entertainment.

Cotty is already on record with his intention to eat his hat if Pentax
releases a full frame (i.e., sensor size equivalent to a 35mm film
frame)DSLR. I will join Cotty, committing myself to eating my hat if
the world ends per the modern interpretation Mayan prophecy.
BTW, the Mayan "prophecy" is precisely analogous to the Y2K issue: the
system designers failed to allow enough space for date/time groups out
into the future. Which does not mean that the world ended after Y2K,
nor will it end a year from now.
The distinct absence of Mayans in the modern world suggests that at least
one of their end-of-the-world prophecies was correct. The 2012 one was
accompanied by vague hints about the discovery of a hidden treasure -
Higgsapetl Bosonacatl I think it was called.
See you on the other side!
