I got a few photos at the party last night. The room was mostly lit by a few strands of colored lights.
I'm amused that I shoot at bars that have colored gels on the lights, and the photos just end up looking crappy, I go to a house party, they just throw a few strings of lights out, and they make for some cool and interesting colors in the photos. It was tough as all get out to photograph, too dark for autofocus, the light would change a lot depending on direction, and I couldn't just put the camera on auto exposure or it would totally blow out the dominant channel. These were all shot with the K-5 and FA31, usually at f/1.8, ISO 8000-12,800 and 1/20-1/60, and manually focused as much by luck as by skill. Of course the photos a friend specifically requested (552 & 576) are of dubious sharpness. http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157628675276189/ or for the exif http://www.fluidr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157628675276189/ I had a few people expressing surprise at my getting photos without using a flash. It's a situation where it's really hard to beat the K-5. The only cameras with better sensors for low light, have bigger sensors, which means less depth of field for the angle of view (though the FA31 with a full frame version of the K-5 would be hard to beat), and none of them have SR on anything faster than f/2.8 (unless the 645D will outperform the K-5 at high ISO in stupid low light and there is fast glass available for it). -- Larry Colen [email protected] sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
