Good stuff, Charles. I've always enjoyed your concert work.
I think in general I agree with your points below, but I would think the sports photographer would be expected to get game winning catches, baskets, key turnovers in football, etc. You can't leave those moments to chance--and to be sure shooting a lot helps minimize the risk of not getting the key moment shot. I wonder what it was like in the film days for the sports photographer? All I can say is that for me glad I'm shooting digital. :-) cheers, Christine On Jan 6, 2012, at 4:30 PM, Charles Robinson wrote: > On Jan 6, 2012, at 12:49, Christine Aguila wrote: >> >> Chicago Sun-Times photo editor: "So, let me get this straight: You shot a >> total of 426 frames?" >> >> Me, newly hired sports photographer: "Yes." >> >> Chicago Sun-Times photo editor: "And all we have is a total of 23 usable >> shots." >> >> Me, newly hired sports photographer: "Right." >> >> Chicago Sun Times photo editor: "You're fired." >> >> Me, newly hired sports photographer: "Understood. >> > > When I shoot live concerts, I'm delighted if my shots-usable to shots-taken > ratio is 1 in 10.
