G'day all When I went to look at one of my Picasa web albums today, the link diverted automatically to a Google+ interface and there doesn't seem to be any way to get the old interface back.
<rant> Instead of the old, boring interface of thumbnails in rows and columns, you now get larger thumbnails in a 'mosaiced' interface. Yes, the old interface was as boring as bat shit, but it was intuitive and it worked. With the Google+ interface, when you hover the cursor over each thumbnail you get a medium sized version to pop up. Nice. Except that it's not immediately apparent that you need to click on each thumbnail to open a gallery of full sized images where you can then move back and forth between the photos using the extremely small arrows on the right and left of the screen. But what's happened to the captions which, in the old interface, were neatly placed at the bottom of each image? Oh, there they are at the top of the right hand panel - would it have hurt to at least put the captions text in bold? And what's that double headed arrow thing superimposed on the image? What happens if I click it? Ah - the caption appears, overlaid at the bottom of the image. That's fine, except that as soon as you do that, the right hand comments panel disappears. And so does the overlaid caption after a few seconds. But wait!! The superimposed caption gets replaced by the comments (if there are any). Isn't that clever? - but you can't see the full comment unless you click the superimposed panel - whereupon the right hand comments panel reappears. And I thought the Flickr interface was impenetrable.... Why can't they bloody well leave well enough alone!!. Stick it up your fundamental, Google. </rant> Cheers Brian ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Brian Walters Western Sydney Australia http://lyons-ryan.org/southernlight/ -- -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Access all of your messages and folders wherever you are -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
