I have no idea, of course. But that happens to me sometimes, too, if that makes you feel any better? I don't think I have ever encountered it on export, but I will notice a "?" in the upper right of the image thumbnail (or next to the folder) every now & then, indicating LR has lost track of it. The other day, when I started up LR, the whole catalog was a "?". I hadn't moved anything from the folders. Thankfully, showing LR where to look for the file always solves the problem... so I try not to think about it.
