I remember well the day we had 38 here, about two years ago I think. I don't mind hot weather but I couldn't bear to be in the direct sun for more than a minute or two. We only had one day of it... looking at your recent history you've had about a week! (As an aside, I do find it annoying that it tends to be easy to find weather forecasts but difficult to find weather histories.)
