IMHO, this simply shows that Ricoh is smart enough to understand that in the photographic world "Pentax" has a lot more caché as a brand than does "Ricoh".
Ricoh has long played second fiddle to Pentax, while at the same time aligning themselves closely with Pentax (see the KR mount). Surely one of the real assets that Pentax carries with it is its name and name recognition. I think that this shows a dispassionate business decision on Ricoh's part. Yes, they are bigger and the parent company, but they realize that in the photographic department Pentax is probably superior to their own in every respect, from design to coatings to marketing.
