Just before I get started, what's a BESO? Okay, now square. I generally like it; in fact many of you might have noticed that I have posted square cropped digital photos along with a few square film scans taken with my Yashica Mat.
That being said, if I choose square for digital it's simply because it looks best to my eye. I often crop to unusual aspect ratios, just because it looks best to me. Now that we're digital we need not be tied to what a film gives us. Square is cool, not because it's cool but because for some photos it just works. Cool pix, btw, especially the portrait.
