Thank you, Bruce. That's very kind of you to say. :)
I am extremely new to retouching in that the extent to which I've done
it amounts to what can be done with Picasa. I do use GIMP for
manipulating the curves, saturation and a few other things that require
a more deft hand than Picasa allows for, but am still an absolute
neophyte when it comes to photo editing. Though, I've mastered ruining
images with it. I'm a natural.
I suppose I'll learn how to do the real editing one day. 'Til then, I
reckon Lovely Heather will have to remain a blurry-lipped young lady.

tl;dr: I'd improve the shot by doing nothing and accepting it as the

Walt, that blur could be reduced/removed in Ps with very careful
cloning/healing etc. It would be a lengthy job for someone new at
retouching. I speak from some experience. :)
As an impartial observer, I think it looks just fine as it is. It's
life. Blur happens.

So, I took some snapshots at a wedding for some friends of mine yesterday,
which of course meant that I'd see a lot of mutual friends in attendance. As
it happens, one of them was my (young) old friend Heather, who used to serve
me beer at one of my preferred watering holes. I got a few decent shots of
her, but there's one in particular that's been driving me nuts because I
really like it, but for one outstanding flaw:

As you can see, she was talking at the time I took the shot, so there's some
motion blur on her lower lip. I've done everything I know how to do to try
and salvage the shot, including softening the focus and adding glow. But
nothing seems to do the trick.
Any ideas on what I might be able to do to improve the shot by way of
glossing over that flaw would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Walt
