Dave,

Try some Agfa Vista.

Kodak ticked me off when they discontinued some of their best films such as
Royal Gold 100, Kodachrome 25 and their threats to discontinue Kodachrome
200. Of course, they already did away with Royal Gold 25(never got to try
that one). As a result I started looking for alternative films. Anyhow, I
got some Agfa Vista 400 and found out it is really good. The grain may not
be as fine as Supra 400 or Royal Gold 400 but it has a nice color palette
and is not overly contrasty. Skin tones and blue skies are especially
pleasing. I have also shot it at 320 and processed normally (it was
overcast on a Sept. 2001 visit to Savannah, Georgia) and it did really well.
Great colors. It also renders skin tones well using flash. Haven't tried
other Vista speeds yet.

(Too bad Agfa discontinued some interesting films also. I understand that
APX 25 was/is awesome and that Ultra 50 was /is good for certain effects.)

Regards,

Robert
