New question -

What do I have to do to allow Google Maps without going back to the other
problems?

i'm on a new machine without Firefox installed yet, but in principle you just tell NoScript to let maps.google.com run JavaScript

or you turn off NoScript, since you have found and changed the google setting for "instant", you don't need NoScript unless you have other JavaScript stuff you want to nullify

i use FireFox for some stuff and i like NoScript but i do get tired of how busy it keeps me turning various things back on when i want them; when i reinstall FireFox i'll check whether NoScript has an option to just allow all scripts, but then when is see a site where i don't like, i can tell it to turn scripts off on that site
