This is a timely discussion.  
The friend of mine who just passed away was "the photographer" in the local 
geek scene for most of the past 23 years, shooting primarily on slide film.  As 
such, he has many, many boxes of slides, some of which he has already scanned.

What is the rough price range for scanning 1,000 slides?
