Sounds beautiful. Those old mechanical marvels just feel and sound so beautiful. I feel it when I pull out one of my old film cameras (all of which are pre-plastic).
Is it possible that the first lens mentioned should be 50mm? Can't imagine a 5mm lens back then. ;-) cheers, frank "What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof." -- Christopher Hitchens --- Original Message --- From: Collin Brendemuehl <[email protected]> Sent: March 20, 2012 3/20/12 To: pdml <[email protected]> Subject: Had the pleasure Yesterday an older gentleman where I work -- German by birth -- brought in his camera to show me. Zeiss Ikon Contarex. What a beautiful piece of hardware. 5/2, 35/2, & 135/2.8. Removable film backs. Illuminated finder display. Wheel control of aperture & shutter. And he got it in, iirc, 1962. It's one of those cameras that was a pleasure just to hold.
