I'm using the Photosmart B8550, Staples had a deal that was hard to resist, $100 for a 13x19" printer that's small enough to not need it's own dedicated room, (Ok only half a room), it can actually sit on the end of my computer desk and not take up the entire desk. Sure it's not super duty, but if I need more than a few of prints I can always farm out the printing, and sure B&W is not it's forte. but hell it paid for itself on it's first commercial job. Speaking of which I've got this nice HP LaserJet sitting in the garage that I should set up.

Which HP printer are you using? I'd suggest taking a look at Atlex.com
looking for the HP printer model you have.

(This is the reason I didn't stick with HP printers way back in
2004-2005. There is a limited number of papers that work well with
their inks, at least in the consumer range of printers, and the number
of profiles available for third party papers are limited. Some of the
drivers are not able to incorporate or be used with third party paper
profiles either. )

I'll have to check and maybe find a sample of the surface. This stuff
really has to be matte, I'm using satin from HP and Inkpress and both are
really too shiny.

Not owning a printer, I always send my stuff to a friendly local
service with a big printer and I almost always spec: Canon Satin
Photographic Paper 240 gsm

What's the price like for that in sheet form? My service gets it in
42" wide rolls, and I don't get charged a lot for it. (I can't find an
invoice or I'd give you a ballpark number.)

Well I'm trying to find a good quality yet inexpensive Matte finish
inkjet
Photo paper in the 200-240 gsm range.
I'm using an HP printer and HP has discontinued all of it's advanced and
premium Matte finish inkjet photo papers. I also though of using either
Ilford, or Inkpress matte finish papers, but alas they also seem to have
discontinued those papers. Well at least in the size I need which is
5"x7".
Any suggestions? I'd like to keep the price per sheet reasonable since
once again this is for a client, and none of my clients these days are
made
of money.
