Hardly noticable, certainly when a larger lens is mounted.

I use it most often with either the DA 18-135mm or the Sigma 50-500mm
and with those the weight of the GPS is no issue at all :-)

Understand, I have the same issue. it DOES add some height to the camera
and that makes it a bit harder to pack it well in many camara bags, even more
because I don't want to stress the mechanical connection through the hotshoe
too much. (allthough that does have a tightening clamp mechanism)

But that said, when I go outside, I nearly always mount the GPS and it does
not bother me at all while hiking.

Hotshoe only, and in that sense it is a brilliant design, better than most.

Depending on what you use for processing, there is virtually no extra work
involved since GPS location and direction (when calibrated) is recorde
automatically with each shot.

I upgraded to LR-4 a few weeks back, just because of the GPS integration is
a seperate (Google maps based) module, that shows a satelite image map
with your photo(groups) whereever you took them.

It also has integrated GPS based searching and anhancing of GPS data with
textual location and such. I really like it for travel and vacation stuff.

The one minor nit I have is the power, it uses a small AAA type cell that lasts
less than a full (long) day when hiking, so take several with you :-)
