I received the repair estimate for the 16-50 that broke my fall when I slipped on the ice. $350 for the repair. It should be returned in a week or two.
This lens looks fairly scarce on the used market. The cheapest used lens was over double the repair cost, and a new lens is $1500. Actually, the sum of my original purchase price and the repair is still cheaper than a new one. I've always joked that falling on the lens was likely cheaper than the emergency room bill would have been had I landed on the sidewalk instead.
