I came across these LED lights: http://www.amazon.com/LightLINK-Rechargeable-Ultra-Bright-Adapter-Cameras/dp/B0045DEIQU/ Deal for two of them: http://www.buy.com/prod/2-pk-rechargeable-led-camera-light-for-canon-t3i-nikon-d5100-pentax-k/223075631.html And there are a bunch of others with a similar idea: http://www.amazon.com/NEEWER.-Digital-Camcorder-Panasonic-Samsung/dp/B004WQAU76/ and some more expensive versions: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/760499-REG/Ikan_ILED_120_iLED_120_On_Camera_LED.html (I am surprised though that 36 LEDs of the first one provide ~600 lux, and 120 LEDs of the last one provides 560 lux.)
I suspect this are suitable for doing some videos with a DSLR. I wonder if they are bright enough (while less obtrusive than a flash) for taking low-light photos. I wonder if anybody had any experience with these or any similar lights or have some thoughts about usability of them for the purpose I described. Larry, - this might be of interest to you too... Did you consider this possibility?
