Igor, I've written about these here before. The hotshoe mounted 160-LED units are amazing. I bought one for my wife and I to experiment with. She does documentary videos with it and I've used it for portraiture. Here are a few shots I did using the NEEWR model ...
http://flic.kr/s/aHsjy4Y72P The first three images there are with a 160-LED light. The 4th is with an AF-540FGZ. I have also used this light firing into an umbrella with success. You just have to allow for wider apertures and.or slower shutter as they aren't a patch on the small strobes.
