No, you only need the correction if your eye can not focus at one meter, either because of sever nearsightedness, or minor farsightedness. Or if you don't wish to wear your glasses when using the camera.
Us bifocal wearers often find it easier to use a correction on the camera rather than crane our neck to look through the bifocal. I like the diopters when I wear contacts because then I don't have to put on reading glasses to focus the camera the damned thing.
