My six year old pc motherboard died and I had to upgrade from xp to win7. Ive been using win7 for about 4 months and only had a few programs hang up and nothing than couldnt be corrected with the windows task manager. Its not that bad, certainly better than XP or win98 or win95 which I used much earlier. I hated having to learn new win7 interface which changed from xp for no good reason though. Win8 due soon and supposedly another big gui change. It never ends with MS.
