I had that problem on my laptop. Some plug in or other was updated and
it wasn't 100% compatible with the old version of Firefox. I think it
was in my anti virus software, but I'm not absolutely sure. Rather than
trying to track down the problem, I just took a chance that everything
would work and upgraded to Firefox 12. Everything still seems to work
and the user interface isn't too horribly difficult to get used to,
though some of the context menus have changed just enough to be
annoying. You'll probably going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade.
