If this is a bucket list quest and virtually the entire point is that
is to be a photographic journey, then I certainly wouldn't skimp on
the lenses I'm taking.
Instead I would be tempted to take very few clothes and make my first
stop a thrift shop when I hit my destination where I would purchase
clothes for the stay. Next stop a laundromat. Finally, I'd donate them
back to the thrift store before I hit the airport for the return trip
and wear the clothes on my back.
That's an angle I hadn't thought of.
I should have. When I took my R&R trip in 2004 I didn't have enough
civilian clothes and I actually bought additional clothes from a couple
of thrift stores while I was in Scotland.
