Well, now the Army claims it is 237 years old, but that is a recent fabrication to disguise the fact that the Marine Corps is older than the US Army. <G>
The Continental Army was formed 237 years ago today. It was, however, disbanded in 1783, while the Marine Corps (created Nov 10, 1775), continued in operation aboard naval vessels. The US Army was in fact not established until June 3, 1784. So, have fun with your cup cakes; We Marines will use a Mameluke Sword (commemorating the Shores of Tripoli) to cut our 237th birthday (for real) cake on Nov 10.
