This is another photo from my St. Bridget's church project. It's
similar to a previously posted photo, but this is shot from the
vantage of the choir loft. instead of the floor. Probably won't make
it to the final product, but this one was a learning experience.

Just a couple of thoughts. The temperature in the choir loft is about
10-15 degrees warmer than down on the floor. My thoughts wandered
back to my grade school years. They crammed about 40 choir members in
that small space and back then it was not air conditioned. It must
have been sweltering in the summer.

After my first trip, I learned that it takes every bit of +/- 4 stops
to catch the detail in the highlights and shadows. I only did 3 stops
on the first trip and was surprised that some of the highlights were
still not quite captured. It makes sense, those are spotlights aimed
at white marble and gold leaf.

Over the weekend I started working with Nik's HDR Efex Pro 2. I had
been working with the latest version of Photomatix. After using both,
for a few days I'm pretty sure that I prefer the Nik's sofware. The
controls are a bit more rational for me, and it seems much easier to
achieve a natural looking result. If you're looking for over-the-top
HDR you can likely get there with either product.

I did most of the finishing in the Nik software, but the final fine
tuning was done in Lightroom. I did a final adjustment on the white
and black points and fine tuned the white balance. I also used the
adjustment brush to lighten the Apse painting above the altar.

This is going to be a very interesting project.
