That's true.  Making a camera dust/fine sand proof is much harder than
waterproof.  Water evaporates; sand just grinds away.  We had a guy
give us a talk about building lunar (and ultimately martian) equipment
to deal with that insanely fine and sharp lunar dust.  They needed
materials that dust just wouldn't stick to.
